Birthday Blend Cupping with Sterling Coffee Roasters

Are you having as much fun celebrating Lionheart’s birthday month extravaganza as I am? I hope so! But in case you’re just now getting in on the birthday action, check out last week’s blog post on Nineteen27 S’mores who will be here this weekend (insert my squeals of pure joy), Saturday, May 14 (10a-4p) and Sunday, May 15 (11a-3p).

Alright, moving on to this week. On Wednesday, May 18 at 11am we will be having a cupping in the shop with the owner of Sterling Coffee Roasters, Aric Miller, who will be helping you pick out the flavor notes of the Lionheart Birthday Blend that he created for us. The Birthday Blend is a blend of a Guatemala and Ethiopia. Here’s everything that you need to know about the two!

Nueva Esperanza Huehuetenango Guatemala: This super smooth blend of caturra, bourbon, and pache varietals from Finca Nueva Esperanza is the answer to every question we’ve had about why Guatemala coffee is so great. Perfectly balanced and lively especially as it cools, look for flavors of hot cocoa, almond brittle, and black cherry cola.

Biftu Gudina Ethiopia: In the Oromo language, “biftu” means “morning sun/bright” and “gudina” means “development”. Well, bright development perfectly describes this gem from western Ethiopia, bursting with flavors of peach cobbler, tangerines and strawberries, along with florals like jasmine and rose.

If you don’t have a chance to come to the cupping, don’t worry. We’ll be offering this coffee in either pour over (if you only want one cup… which no offense, but you’re crazy if you only want one cup of this yumminess) or bags of whole beans for purchase.

Next weekend, Stumptown Coffee will be back at the shop and we’ll be debuting their Cold Brew cartons. Yep, you read that right! Stumptown’s Cold Brew cartons are coming to Lionheart  Coffee Company! If you’ve never tried it before, it’s basically like chocolate milk for adults… so good. So now when you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to wait for us to make you the perfect drink, you can just grab a carton of Cold Brew and be on your way, caffeine in hand 🙂 It’s a win win for everyone involved.

Don’t forget to check back next week for the following weekend’s lineup of events! Trust me, you don’t want to miss it!
